How My Hollywood Journey Revealed the Formula for Manifestation
As many of you know, I spent over 20 years in the Film and TV industry. While I began as an actor, I had the incredible opportunity to explore all aspects of production. Unsurprisingly, writing and directing thrilled me the most (with costume design being a close third!).
One experience that remains etched in my memory was my time filming Men in Black III alongside Will Smith and Emma Thompson, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and written by Etan Cohen.
As one of the Men in Black, I was on set constantly. Because of the strict ‘No Phones on Set’ rule, I carried a small red notebook in my tailored black suit, not as much capturing insights from behind the scenes, but writing poetry to kill the time and to jot down awarenesses and manifestations I wanted to pay close attention to.
Then, on hour 13 of filming the same scene, something remarkable happened.
Barry stormed onto the set, ablaze with passion:
“Sit tight, actors. This scene isn’t working. We’re rewriting it—right now!”
Now, you might think this is common, but trust me—on a $250 million blockbuster, time is money. And yet, they were rewriting a pivotal scene in real time.
I quietly moved closer, just beyond their view, listening intently as the director, writers, Will Smith, and the producers debated how to make the scene work.
Then, I learned something that shocked me to my core:
The script wasn’t even finished!
GOBSMACKED. How could they start filming a $250 million Hollywood blockbuster without a completed script?!
One producer, likely the budget overseer, was panicking about the money bleeding away every second they deliberated. Then Barry looked at him, calm and confident:
“Don’t act like this movie isn’t already a guaranteed hit that you’ll triple your return.”
He knew it.
He knew the finished film was going to fill theaters on opening weekend.
He could see it.
He knew the audience would show up.
He knew the result before it even existed.
He trusted the process.
That’s when it hit me:
The same steps used to actualize a Hollywood blockbuster are the exact same steps for manifesting your best life.
